About ME
Based in north county San Diego, I have been playing saxophone for nearly 20 years. Playing professionally and teaching for more than half of that time, I have found great joy in creating music, and handing on knowledge to generations younger, and older. At Palomar college I finished all of my music theory and musicianship courses, and at MiraCosta College I completed my performance studies courses, emphasizing performance in jazz. I have explored many different disciplines within my studies in music, including improvisation, music theory, ear training, composition and arranging, and developed a deep bag of skillsets that will fit the interests of just about any student.
Methods Used
Lessons are catered to the students skills and interest. Method books are chosen on an individual basis. However, these books are frequently used:
48 Famous studies for Oboe and Saxophone- Ferling
Larry Teal daily studies
Canbonball Adderley Omnibook
Teacher’s Philosoph
I love being challenged as a teacher to find new ways to communicate knowledge to each individual student, catering to each individual's learning style with the common goal of inciting excitement for music, and growth as a musician.
